Presenter:  Deanna Ferello, M.S., CCC-SLP

TUESDAY, APRIL 29, 2025  7:00 PM – 9:00 PM EST

Description:
This presentation will explore the critical connection between speech sound disorders (SSDs) and literacy development, highlighting how difficulties with phonological processing can impact reading and spelling skills. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the ways in which articulation and phonological disorders influence phonemic awareness, decoding, and overall literacy outcomes. Through research-based insights, this course will examine the overlapping nature of speech and reading disorders, including conditions such as dyslexia, phonological processing deficits, and expressive language delays.

Designed for Speech-Language Pathologists, special educators, general education teachers, tutors, and literacy specialists, this presentation will provide actionable strategies for identifying at-risk students and for implementing targeted interventions that bridge the gap between oral and written language skills. Participants will be equipped with practical techniques to foster stronger speech, reading, and academic success in children with speech sound disorders.
