This 56-page book makes teaching letter sounds easier than ever! Most educators use the Lively Letters boxed picture and plain letter cards to introduce and practice the uppercase letter sounds and develop phonemic awareness and phonics skills through word chaining or word play activities.

The purpose of the Letter Sound Introduction Stories and Pictures book is to make introducing the letter sounds as effective and enjoyable as possible. The large, colorful pictures help students see all the mnemonic cue details. The letter sound introduction stories in large font, with the included hand and mouth cue photos, make it easier for educators to read and portray the engaging stories that elicit the sounds. The dialogue recommended in these introduction stories helps teachers link the letter sounds to the shapes, using hand and mouth cues and funny stories that create long-lasting impressions.

When using this book to introduce the sounds, it is recommended that the educators have the letter picture face the students while the story faces the educator.

Most educators find it useful to also have the Lively Letters cards to drill with and use in manipulative word play after introducing the sounds. Those cards, the instruction manual, and character songs can be purchased separately. This 8 1/2" X 11" book includes all 26 alphabet letters (27 Lively Letters characters).
