If we can’t manage the behaviors we can’t teach the skills. Whether your students are in special education or general education, if their behavior issues are impacting their ability to learn, this session is for you! Dr. Kerry Quinney, a masterful behavior management special educator, will show you exactly how to manage behaviors in students in primary grades (PreK - 2) and with a wide range of learning challenges including autism, executive function deficits, and attentional issues. Loaded with practical strategies and videos showing implementation of these strategies with actual students , this unique session is not to be missed.

About the Presenter: Kerry Quinney, Ph.D. is a special educator for a public elementary school in Nevada. She is also an adjunct university professor who teaches graduate-level special education courses in early childhood. Dr. Quinney is a specialist in the area of behavior management techniques including applied behavioral analysis. Although she's extremely passionate about working with children with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities, she has developed a repertoire of research-based, effective strategies for those working with students with a wide range of ages and abilities, both in special education and general education, for the management and replacement of behaviors that impact learning. She believes that expectations of all children should be set high and that even those with significant challenges are far more capable than many perceive, especially when the appropriate methods are used. Kerry holds a Bachelors Degree in Biology, a Masters Degree in Education/Special Education and a Ph.D. in Education/Special Education. Her dissertation topic to earn her Ph.D. was titled, The Effects of Teaching Phonemic Awareness and Phonics to Preschool-Aged Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
