Description:

This webinar will show unique techniques for increasing student engagement with low-tech methods and ways for adding games or movement to every part of a structured literacy phonics lesson, whether online or in-person.

This dynamic session is for general education teachers, special education teachers, reading specialists, tutors, speech pathologists, homeschool parents, and virtual tutors. The information and strategies provided will apply for those working with general education early literacy students or with students of any age with reading challenges related to dyslexia, processing issues, ADHD, learning English as a second language, or other traits/learning disabilities that impact learning. Michelle will outline ways to add movement to motivate students, supporting inflexible thinkers through games. She will demonstrate how to use your own materials and turn them into engaging games right on the spot during a structured literacy lesson.   This webinar will be full of demos and will provide multiple ways to engage your students with limited prep so that you can start using new techniques and tools tomorrow. So, let's get ready to move and play because teaching, and learning, how to read should be fun for you and for the students! Besides all of the knowledge and strategies listed below, every participant will receive:

*A workbook to support a structured literacy lesson with activities that will take you through the school year.

*A special bundle of editable word card activities to get started on adding games and movement to your lesson.

Participants will leave with:

*An understanding of the key components of a structured literacy lesson

*Ways to add games to any part of their lesson, including sound card drill, word card reading,  sentence fluency, and multi-sensory spelling

*Different examples of how to add movement into the components of phonetic lessons

*The understanding of how to use games and movement to support students with ADHD and inflexible thinkers

*Easy solutions for how to create spontaneous games when a student is frustrated, and the lesson needs to continue
