Description:
Teachers and their students can make sense of almost any word in the English writing system if they draw on one or more sources of information that we will visit in this talk. English is not "crazy" and we should stop conveying that mistaken idea to children. Discovering the varied ways that English represents sound, meaning, and orthographic patterns can be enlightening and fun. Take advantage of this opportunity to hear Dr. Moats speak and to ask her your questions. See you there!
