DESCRIPTION:
You have probably heard the adage - first children ‘learn to read’ and then they ‘read to learn.’  The same can be said  -  'use your executive function skills to read,’ and ‘read to enhance your executive skills.' Yet, reading and executive function skills are developing in an era dominated by online texts. Students now scan, scroll and hop from page to page online!  Printed books provide students with a lot of time; digital reading speeds up the pace!  Touching paper and turning pages of a paper document gives readers a map that allow them to understand what they are reading in the context of the entire text, whereas screens offer an endless supply of words—all we have to do is scroll. Jumping between topics prevents readers from thinking deeply about one subject while constantly switching between them.

The landscape of literacy is evolving. Join us to learn dozens of practical strategies for teaching students to use their executive function skills to read digital texts more effectively, as well as how to use digital text to develop executive function skills. Through your reading therapy sessions, learn how to naturally improve executive function skills.
