Bring your first grade through High school students' language and literacy skills to the next level! The Movable Morphemes program, created by Nancy Telian, MS, CCC-SLP, simultaneously trains reading, spelling, and vocabulary skills using meaningful prefixes, roots, and suffixes. This set includes 44 sheets to print 147 color-coded, double sided prefixes, roots, and suffixes, plus a 27-page Instruction Guide.
Each card, color-coded by type of morpheme, has the word part printed on the front of the card. The back of each card includes the word part, its definition, a sample word containing that morpheme, and a sentence containing that word. Each category of morpheme cards also includes a number of blank color-coded cards so that educators can add in more prefixes, suffixes, roots, and base words of their choosing. This way teachers can create an unlimited number of morpheme cards to further develop morphological awareness skills, while also tying in specific concepts and vocabulary being taught in their classrooms.
The accompanying guide provides explicit instructions on how to use the Movable Morphemes cards in creative manipulation activities to help develop the ability to read, spell, and understand the meanings of words containing prefixes, roots, and suffixes. For ease of instruction, it includes the printed lists of Movable Morphemes word parts along with their definitions, sample words, and sentences (the same ones listed on the backs of the cards). You will also find several samples of paper and pencil activities, as well as pre-test and post-test sheets.
